When Sinners Say "I Do" (Book Review)
I bought When Sinners Say "I Do": Discovering the Power of the Gospel for Marriage some time ago, before I met my fiance (maybe it was an act of faith). Mare Cris and I have both read it as a way to prepare ourselves for marriage, and we were both impressed with what this author had to say.
Dave Harvey has articulated the power of the gospel within marriage. He makes this powerful assertion in the first chapter: "What we believe about God determines the quality of our marriage." The author then explains, chapter by chapter, why the gospel is essential to a healthy marriage.
This author has brilliantly described the way the gospel empowers two sinners to express love, humility, grace and mercy to each other in the marriage covenant. This book takes the truths of Scripture and applies them to the most important earthly relationship we have.
I would highly recommend this one for engaged or married couples. It will give you a realistic yet hopeful outlook on Christian marriage.
